Sewing-Crafts Project

Sewing-Crafts

(Elsies River)

We are currently sponsoring 10 students on this 6-week initiative which take place on the premises of the House of Nazareth in Elsies River, run by Faith & Hope Sewing School.

Unemployed females are currently completing their level 1 in Basic Sewing and introduction to pattern making as well as Basic craft design. It is envisaged that many will proceed to the level 2 course where the skills developed will be more advanced.

The rationale for supporting this course is to empower the unemployed to gain meaningful skills which can be translated into developing entrepreneurial opportunities for them to become self-sustaining in their own communities. Entrepreneurial opportunities include, designing dresses, doing alterations and creating crafts (bags etc) which can be sold, generating a sustainable income.
