Project Compassion
The project compassion concept has been around since the early days of CAHF, but as a new organisation we didn’t really have capacity to explore beyond conceptual phase. This year (2024) we revived the project with renewed energy and a dedicated team.
Project Compassion aims to address the emotional, mental and spiritual needs of communities. This includes visiting the elderly, the sick, the bereaved, those experiencing family challenges and those facing mental health challenges.
Our key goals for project compassion are:
- Explore integrated/holistic approaches to addressing emotional, mental and spiritual needs
- Create collaborative support networks that include spiritual leaders, mental health professionals, community leaders and volunteers
- Destigmatise mental health through understanding and awareness
- Make help accessible by channelling communities to the correct resources and service providers
- Encourage seeking help and provide support through “circles of compassion”
- Grow and expand knowledge of psychospiritual sciences/practices through training initiatives

The team has spent the last few months researching, consulting spiritual leaders and mental health professionals, and exploring pilot initiatives.
These ideas have led to a working group of CAHF members, spiritual leaders and mental health professionals, who are working towards practical ways of implementing the initiatives of Project Compassion.
