Valhalla Park Community Hub

Ashraf Adams - Hub Manager

Ashraf hails from a large family where love was opulent but resources were limited.

However, his family took care of one another, as well as their neighbours and friends.

This sense of community responsibility he now tries to inculcate with his children, ensuring that they all remain involved with charitable interventions in areas were the need is great.

Ashraf has been part of CAHF since inception in 2017.

Mareldia Hendricks is a Caregiver and lives in Valhalla Park. Her passion is serving her family, community and humanity as a whole. She is well known in her community.

For the past 16 years she’s been instrumental in providing for the basic needs of her community with the assistance from various organisations. She started a feeding scheme with her family to ensure that those in-need will at least get one hearty meal when resources allows them to cook and feed the community. She is the Hub Host for Connect A Heart Foundation (CAHF).

Mareldia engages with her community regularly to get a better understanding of their needs. She nurtures and cares for the frail and the aged in her area and at the Lily Haven Old Age Home in Bonteheuwel.

She loves to empower herself and the community and seeking knowledge is her key. Her aim is to qualify as an Islamic Burial Officer in order to offer her service and assistance to cleanse deceased Muslim Females and counsel the bereaved families.

The social services and policing forum is highly under-resourced in her area. This lead to her initiative in volunteering to counsel traumatised individuals. Institutions like The Saartjie Baartman Centre and The City of Cape Town Solid Waste Recycling saw her initiative and requested her assistance, thus placing Valhalla Park in the spotlight, thereby securing more sponsorships and resources for her community.

Mareldia believes that Valhalla Park can be a shining example of a close knitted and loving community. All she requires is your support, love and prayers to stay committed to the cause, as it is an Islamic duty.
